Found afew of these today in storage! Why not remove the drives, all u gotta do is format them and they were good to go! Just remove all the screws as shown in this clip. Cheers for the video.

Were there any UART headers on the board that you could spot? I'd love to dump the firmware of one of these things.

Very "Bull at a Gate" not the way to treat electronic equipment. What is the point of this video? If you described how to extract the data from the HDD and then format it, that would be good. Otherwise , a waste of time.

Like you, I got 2 T-Bboxes. My first "shit itself" often and kept rebooting, etc. Eventually, I couldn't delete the shows as it had made the read only. I too remove the 350 gig WD HDD..

After much ranting on the phone, they sent the new edition for free. I've had no probs at all with this one. Very stable. Not with Telstra anymore, but still use the T-Box as set top box.

My only beef is they make the EPG ( electronic programme guide) unavailable. I suspect they do this with software, because it's broadcast free to air along with stations on every other TV or STB, not via their internet connection. Would love know how to edit their software. Anybody?

Mine has a hitachi 320 GB drive, which is in 100% health so I used Recuva to save all the recordings off it!! I use VLC to play them back on the PC!!
