Guys I recently shared a new video about how to manage color for your illustration when moving from Procreate to Photoshop, switching color profiles, RGB or CMYK, and more … check it out here https://youtu.be/fHUhKM1dPWI

Why don’t you convert CMYK on Procreate

Hi! New subscriber to your channel, thank you so much for such an informative and generous video. I am an illustrator that was doing traditional work for such a long time, only out of fear of the dreaded Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop learning curve. I don't like the fact that it doesn't feel like it does when you are sketching freehand. Eventually i made the leap into the digital world, not on Procreate but a different app. I always thought that with Procreate or any other raster app I would have to go to illustrator anyway to be able to vectorize (I hate that) to get good quality prints. That doesn't seem to be the case!! As you are clearly printing them and they seem to be of fantastic quality. Any tips for someone trying to jump on to Procreate?and printing from home?. Also love your illustration showing El Retiro! It's so beautiful..

Thank you for sharing your process!! I love seeing this because I feel it’s something that is widely shared at least for art prints so I really appreciate you taking the time to share. Couple of questions: How do you print multi prints to one page? I’m still trying to figure that part out. Can you share how you set up your procreate canvas? Like is it always using pixels? I couldn’t figure that part out, for example for a 11×14 what’s the size of the canvas in pixels? Thank you again!!

Hello! Thank you for this fab video. Just wondering about working on an A3 canvas on procreate, does it not limit the number of layers significantly? I think I only have like 4…. If you then print in A4/A5 do you lose quality scaling down or is that just when you scale up ? Thank you 😊 xx

Is there a way to do this with other softwares? I use Adobe Fresco for most of my artwork, but am unsure how to print to a canvas. Should I just bite the bullet and get Procreate, or will the prints come out just as good? For the particular project I’m working on, I need to print it on a large canvas, probably around 5 by 7 foot, so I’ll need to get it printed somewhere else. Any recommendations as to where I can order it?

Hey I really need help. My problem is when I transfer my digital art from my laptop into my phone, the colour changes and it doesn’t look as good as in the laptop. Can you please help me & tell me what can be done so the colour doesn’t change? I do my work in illustrator

Hello, Could you please let me know why you set your canvas in procreate to RGB but then use CMYK in photoshop? I tried to draw in CMYK on procreate but all the colours are muted. Thank you 🙂

I bought this printer and it does great prints. However, a word of warning to anyone using Mac OS Catalina or higher with Photoshop, Adobe does not support the color management utility. I've had to learn the hard way. Google it and you'll see it's a known issue with no known workaround 🙁

Do you use dye ink for printing?

Reply
Rob DaFrog 20/08/2021 - 07:41

Hi Asia. Thanks for your videos. Can you give an estimate of how many prints you can get from the ink of the Canon printer (a fresh ink tray). Say the artwork you showed in this video of the house (beautiful by the way) how many of those types of prints can you do? I'm trying to figure out the cost of ink compared to just going to normal print store and having them print out like I usually do.

Hi! So glad I found your video, I have the same printer. When I print from Illustrator I am getting faint horizontal streaks on my colors. My ink levels are not low. Would this be a problem with my printer or illustrator file/settings. I'm new to this, so I apologize if it is a simple solution.

I am very glad with this video, I've been searching for an affordable printer with which I could print A3 format with. I bought a printer that had a very bad resolution with printing and I threw my money away. But with this I actually can see that an other artist is very happy with it. Thank you for sharing all this information! You are an angel. Also I really love the work you make it is very beautiful and it gives me a warm feeling inside :D. I think art like yours is needed in this time we are living in. Thank you for all the effort!

Thank you for the video Asia! I was researching printers for at home printing – I have an Epson workforce pro which prints really high resolution and b/w comes out perfect, whilst when printing large areas of flat color the dots are pretty visible looking close. I thought those are because it just has cmyk ink (compared for example to pro100), it looks like Pixma is the same, do you experience that as well a little? Not sure if there’s some trick around it, I also tried a bunch of different paper (best result with Epson Archive Matte). Thank you in advance and I hope you see this comment 🖤

Hi Asia! Thanks for this video. It relieves me to see that because the Canon PIXMA iX6850 is much more affordable than e.g. the Canon PIXMA Pro. I was looking for an artist making a video about a “cheaper” printer, to see if it would be worth it. I might consider it then! 🙂

Hi! I have some questions O:)
How long have you been printing with this printer? And how many prints you print in one month ? I´m asking because I would love to buy this printer but I've heard that when you print cca 100 prints a month with this printer, the printer burns out. Many thanks ! 🙂

Hi Asia, your videos are excellent and filled with very useful information. I just watched the video on “Preparing Your Digital Artwork for Print” and was curious why you go through Photoshop to print instead of going directly from Procreate which I noticed you said was you favorite APP.? If you have printed directly from Procreate what were the problems that resulted in you going through Photoshop fore printing? I appreciate what I have heard from you so far and look forward to you response. Thanks in advance for your help. Best regards, Tom Williams

Btw can we print directly from procreate or is Photoshop a must?

Hobson 20/08/2021 - 07:41

Great video! My biggest problem often is that when I convert from RGB to CMYK, it fades some colors out as CMYK can't process overly bright RGB colors. To counter this, I usually go to Image -> Adjustments -> Replace Color. Then I tweak the colors until I'm satisfied with it.

Hi Asia, Thank you so much! I've been printing directly from Illustrator and the colors are always a bit off. I'll try importing then printing from photoshop.

If you are planning on printing your work isn’t it better to set up the canvas as CMYK before you start painting? I did a whole painting and took it to print and it ruined the colours because I painted it in RGB!
