What kind of lightbulb and socket did you use? Anything special? I don't want to burn my box my first time using it, lol.

Hi Marco, want to try oils however I am not sure what would be the best "odourless" thinner for this, I don't want to have one that really stinks my house while painting 🙂

Can you elaborate why you cant cure resin models with this heat box? Most of my resin models feel hard as stone, I find it hard to believe they would have problems with the heat if plastic models can handle it.

Question – what would happen if varnish is applied via the airbrush over oil that hasn't cured yet? Is that a bad idea?

Reply
Fronkler 18/08/2021 - 01:41

Nice, you could add a small clock timer to it to remind you so your resin models don’t turn into a pile of goo!

How strange! I always thought using heat on oil pants had the opposite effect, namely that it stays liquid longer.
Have I been misinformed or does the size of minis plays into this?

Marco! I got a question I hope you can answer. I can never get my glazes right. I'm using acrylic of course. Whenever I use flow improver it's too washy when I use glaze medium is to goopy. I do it on a wet palette. Please help.

Hi Marco. Not subject here. But I am using Army painter & Vallejo Metals color range (Vallejo same bottle as Army painter. Not the Vallejo Acrylic metal Airbrush), and both have bad coverage. Are Scale75 metal better than those 2?

Where are you living? In Europe there are no light bulbs anymore. Only energy saving lights.
Aren't hot enough…

Hi Marco, seeing as we're on a kind of environmental subject, do you have any advice about dust or random particles getting in your paint, your pallette, or on your models? I'm trying to do smooth coats and it's so annoying to see an otherwise perfect finish with a little bump in it!

Brian Miller 18/08/2021 - 01:41

And I though it couldn't get better than the space wolf thumbnail hahahha this is the best!

Back a long time ago I used a 100/200W trouble lamp hung over my painting area. I would hold up the painted figures to get a gloss look to them from the rapid cure. heh. Man.. that was more than two decades ago. Also.. of course your wife is right. It's a wife thing. 🙂

Marco,
Your corner of the miniature painting bubble has taken this hobby in a wild and exciting new direction for me. While I am still amateur/novice with acrylics, your channel is sprinkling a wider skillset into my craft that none of the other channels speak to. Sure, everyone has videos about speed painting and "hobby hacks", but yours really showcases some alternative approaches not available to those who can only think within the box. (Enter rattle can topswaps/ kimera kolor/ oils)
Masterful work, keep it coming!

How about using Liquin in the paints? It has cut my drying/curing times pretty much. But I am still afraid of yellowing and dry Pigment color changes over time under light.
Had an unpleasantbsuprise this summer.

Question: How are you making your purchases for supplies these days? Local stores? Online?…and if online is it Amazon? Are you using a miniature game vendor? Are you purchasing from suppliers directly? Thank you.
