When I took my first oil painting class I inherited a shoe box full of oil paints from a photography student who wasn't going to use them. Most of them were from the late 70s. A few of the tubes were rotten and dried like this but most of them worked and I ended up using all this old oil paint to complete my whole thesis project.

I have a pile of old oil paint tubes that belonged to my deceased great-aunt that are around 15 years old. Recently I started using some of these tubes (more specifically burnt umber and Naples yellow) and they are good as new.

I just bought a tube of old holland cobalt turquoise and it is very stiff like the old yellow you used. should the paint behave this way? i can not use it without adding some oil.

César si tus óleos viejos no te sirven regalamelos.

What about using a bit of thinner if the paint just started drying?
