Great job! Ignore some of those comments below because your video is very helpful and I like that you talk like a real person instead of some actor reading lines.
Question: Do all three mediums dry at the same rate if used in the same proportions? I'm getting ready to begin painting in oils instead of acrylics and I keep hearing how unpleasant the fumes from Liquin are and that they are dangerous. Does the Daniel Smith painting medium have any bad smell and is it safer to use than Liquin? Thanks again! Joyce.

Liquin Fine Detail is just regular Liquin diluted with turpentine. Liquin is a synthetic resin desolved in linseed oil; it's best to think of it as a synthetic hard varnish. (Natural hard varnishes are copal varnish and amber varnish—these were used by the Old People in paint mediums because they do not re-dissolve after they have dried. The soft varnishes, such as dammar and mastic, were NOT used in paint mediums because they create a weak paint film which will re-dissolve when the painting is cleaned. Soft varnishes therefore cause a lot of paint to come off when the painting is cleaned.)

So, how do you know if you’re ratios are such that you have a fast drying layer under a slow drying one?
Also, if you’re using these, how many days do you give yourself to complete the painting before it’s too dry to layer more into?
Lastly, how long do you wait till you varnish?

Just use linseed oil cooked wirh calcined marble dust, and thin it with solvents as regular. You can melt dammar orr mastic crystal, or wax if you want at cooking. But just oil cooked with 5 percent calcined marble would be 10 times better than any liquin.

Fine and interesting information about mediums that shorten drying time. I especially appreciated that you told about the differences in shine of the three mediums you presented.

Very informative video. I would thank for that.

But as others pointed out it is frustrating to listen to you because you get stuck with 'aw a aa …'.

You need little practice for fluency. May be a mental rehearsal would help.

Thanks for the video. It was useful.

Hi, I loved the video. As a new oil painter it was VERY helpful! Is the Daniel Smith medium you are using the water soluble stuff? I can't find any other type listed on their website. By the way, is there a chirping noise in the background of your video or am I going slightly mad? Thanks.
